I love photographing weddings with lots of beautiful details, and Susie and Adam’s country affair in Somerset was one such wedding. When I arrived at the reception venue that morning, I couldn’t help cooing with excitement at all the gorgeous little touches ~ mismatched china, country garden flowers, fabric bunting, hay bales, deckchairs, fairy lights, old Penguin classics, bouncy castle, croquet, badminton, ginger beer (my favourite) and of course, a sweets table. Not only that, but they had installed a line of vintage lampshades suspended above the floor in the ceremony venue. A very unique touch.
When I first met with Susie and Adam last summer, they had emphasised to me how much they love natural photography and want this for their wedding. I like to adapt my style to suit each client and what they want, so for Susie and Adam’s wedding I adopted a very relaxed, reportage approach. This had also worked well on their engagement shoot. Much of the day was spent with guests playing badminton or croquet on the lawn, so it afforded plenty of opportunites for shots of guests having fun. I loved capturing shots of some of the children playing with the old fashioned ten-pin bowling set-up. I also fell slightly in love with the groom’s beautiful little nephew, who squealed with excitement each time he knocked over a pin. You can tell how many shots I took of him from the selection below…too adorable!
